About Me

I’m Toro Elmar — a creative director, photographer, and musician based in Jakarta. My work moves between design, image, and sound, exploring how emotion takes shape through form, light, and rhythm.

By day, I lead the Creative team at Lazada Indonesia (part of Alibaba Group), guiding a group of passionate designers in shaping how millions experience e-commerce visually. Over the years, I’ve led campaigns and identities for a range of global brands — Apple, Unilever, Samsung, SK-II, Xiaomi — always chasing that fine point where clarity meets feeling. I’ve helped create many of the design benchmarks that have influenced how e-commerce promotional visuals look and feel across Southeast Asia, setting new standards for how brands communicate in digital spaces.

Photography keeps me grounded. It’s my way of slowing the noise. I’m drawn to stillness, the space between gestures, natural light, and the quiet poetry of everyday scenes — streets after rain, people deep in thought, shadows that almost disappear. My photo work often deals with memory, belonging, and impermanence — moments that seem small until they stay with you.

Music is another part of that same conversation. My releases are built around introspection and the changing states of being human — experiments in tone and mood that echo how I photograph. Image and sound inform each other; both are ways of collecting moments before they fade.

Whether in business, sound, or image, I try to build spaces where emotion and design can coexist without crowding each other — where people can feel something real.
